Chuck
Finney has been with the Consumer and Environmental Protection
Unit of the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office for sixteen
years. He specializes in the criminal prosecution of white collar
crime -- securities violations, embezzlement, theft, and forgery
where frequently the victims are people who have invested their
money with loan brokers or investment advisors. Often, these victims
are elderly and retired, and the loss of their money has presented
serious consequences to them.

Mr.
Finney also has extensive experience in a broad range of consumer
issues -- charitiable solicitations, auto purchases and repairs,
health club issues, bait and switch, false advertising, unfair
competition, landlord/tenant issues, and the small claims court.
Mr. Finney works closely with the American Association of Retired
Persons on issues confronting older persons.
He
has worked in radio for over twenty years and was the Director
of News and Informational Programming at public radio station
KQED-FM in San Francisco, CA from 1981 - 1984. In 1984, Mr. Finney
began producing and hosting "Your Legal Rights" at KQED-FM
and moved the program to KALW-FM in San Francisco, CA in 1986.
KALW-FM is also a public radio station and is owned by the San
Francisco School District. The program is designed to educate
the public about their legal rights and consumer rights. The program
emphasized prevention and self-help. Over 800 programs have been
produced in the last sixteen years and the program is carried
on seven stations.
Because
of his work on "Your Legal Rights", in 1994, Mr. Finney
was awarded the C. Rick Chamberlin Award by the California Board
of Specialization of the State Bar of California for presenting
programs to improve public awareness of the law. Funders of the
program are The Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law Section
of the State Bar of California; the Family Law Section of the
State Bar of California; the Labor and Employment Law Section
of the State Bar of California; the Lawyer Referral Service of
the Bar Association of San Francisco; the California Applicants'
Attorneys Association; the San Mateo County Bar Association; the
American Association of Retired Persons; and the California Board
of Specialization of the State Bar of California.
